What can we do for you?

Clay workshop

Maidstone Museum 'Visit Only'
School groups are welcome to use the Museum unaided, but please call us to let us know that you are coming.

Cost: Free of charge, length of visit up to you.

Maidstone Museum 'Object Inspired Visit'
We can provide you with a range of objects to inspire your pupils during their visit to the Museum. You will need to make an appointment before your visit to choose the items you wish to use and these will be waiting for you when your group arrives.

Cost: Free of charge, length of visit up to you.

Maidstone Museum Workshops
Our workshops are interactive and use real artefacts and specimens. All workshops last 60 minutes and cater for up to 30 pupils. If you wish to extend your visit, why not join us for a craft session. All workshops can be accompanied by a craft session afterwards. Examples are; Egyptians - clay canopic jars, Romans - Roman helmets, Victorians - peg dolls. Craft sessions last an additional 60 minutes.

Cost:

1 x Workshop - £50 (£42.50*) at Maidstone Museum consisting of 1 x 60 minute session.

2 x Workshops - £80 (£68*) at Maidstone Museum consisting of 2 x 60 minute sessions.

1 x Workshop and a craft session - £95 (£80.75*) at Maidstone Museum consisting of 2 x 60 minute sessions.

We do have a gift shop at the Museum which stocks many items at pocket money prices which relate to the workshop themes. If you feel that there is not enough time during you visit to enable your class to go to the gift shop, we can make up bags with items in for you to collect upon your arrival and distribute in your own time. If you would like us to do this for you then please contact Alex Gurr on 01622 602847 or alexgurr@maidstone.gov.uk stating the maximum amount of money you want to spend per head and we can get a selection of items together for you.

Outreach
Most of our workshops are available for outreach. We will bring the artefacts/specimens (and clay if you would like it) to your school and can deliver up to four 60 minute workshops in one day. You can also book half a day. This enables us to work with more than one year group in one day, with a cross-curricular mixture of workshops.

Cost:

Half Day Outreach - £150 (£127.50*) 2 workshops, or 1 workshop and 1 craft session at your school consisting of 2 x 60 minutes sessions.

Full Day Outreach - £225 (£191.25*) 4 workshops, or a combination of workshops and craft sessions at your School consisting of 4 x 60 minutes sessions.

One hour-long workshop – £80 (£68*) - on request for local schools only - at your School consisting of 1 x 60 minute session.
