Albert Goodwin: Visionary Landscapes
An exhibition of 50 watercolours exploring landscape and architecture from around Britain and Europe.
Introduction
Albert Goodwin (1845-1932) was born in Maidstone in Kent and was able to maintain a career as a successful artist for a lifetime. He painted scenes that are both recognisable and of interest historically as documents of how towns and buildings once appeared. As a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, Goodwin exhibited extensively showing over 700 works. He was championed by Ruskin and trained with the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood. His emotive Visionary Landscapes reflect the artistic influences of luminaries from Turner to Ford Maddox Brown.
